iwant2eat Help

iwant2eat keeps the recipes you actually cook — from websites, cooking videos, emails, screenshots and handwritten cards — in one private, searchable vault. Then it helps you cook them, plan the week and shop for them with your family.

Frequently asked questions

Is iwant2eat a place to find new recipes?

No — and that's the point. iwant2eat is a home for your recipes: the ones you've saved from websites, videos, emails, cookbooks and family cards. It doesn't search the internet for new ones; it makes the recipes you already have easy to find, cook, translate, plan and shop for. Start with Adding recipes.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Get the iwant2eat app for iPhone or Android, or simply open iwant2eat.com in any browser. Your recipes, meal plan and shopping list are the same on every device you sign in to. See Apps, widget & extension.

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in page press I forgot my password, enter your email and follow the link we send you (look in the spam folder too). To change a password you know: Account → Main → Change password. Signed up with Google, Facebook or Apple? Then there's no password to remember — keep using that button. If you'd like a password as well, the same I forgot my password link creates one.

What happens when my free trial ends?

Nothing is deleted. Your recipes stay yours to open, cook from, edit, print and export — free, for as long as you like. You can still add one new recipe a week; a subscription brings back unlimited recipes and Ask AI.

How much does it cost?

Every account starts with a 14-day free trial with everything included — no card needed. After that it's $2.99 a month or $20 a year (about $1.67 a month), and one subscription covers your whole household. See Pricing.

How do I cancel?

The menu under your picture (top right) → Manage Subscription → Manage subscription opens the billing portal, where cancelling takes two clicks — no emails, no phone calls. Subscribed in the iPhone app? Cancel in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your recipes are visible only to you and the people you choose to share them with. Nothing is public unless you create a share link, nothing is indexed by search engines, and your recipes are never used to train AI models. See the privacy policy.

Can I get my recipes out?

Any time. Export the whole vault as one backup file, or print, save as PDF or Word, or email any single recipe. See Backups and your data.

Can my family use the same account?

Yes — invite up to five household members. Each signs in with their own email and shares your recipes, meal plan and shopping list, and you decide what each person may change. See Household members.

The AI got an amount or a step wrong. What now?

Open Original recipe text at the bottom of the recipe, correct it and choose Save and reprocess. The verbatim original is always kept, so nothing is ever lost. See Original text and reprocessing.

A new recipe is called “AI budget reached”.

This week's AI budget ran out, so the recipe was saved but not read yet. Once the budget renews on Monday, open it and choose Save and reprocess under Original recipe text. See AI budget.

There's a red strip at the top of the page.

Our hosting provider or our photo storage is having trouble right now. The strip says which, when a fix is expected, and links to the provider's status page. Your recipes are safe; until it's fixed, photos may not load or save, or the site may be slow. The strip goes away by itself once everything works again.

Which languages does it speak?

iwant2eat itself is available in 31 languages — switch in the menu under your picture. Recipes are kept in the language they were written in, and any recipe can be translated into yours with one tap. See Translate any recipe.
